With more than 30 years of specialist experience in the poultry and livestock industries, Dr. Macalino was widely respected for his expertise and leadership. After graduating as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1987, he began his professional career in the poultry industry in 1988. Over the years, he held senior and international positions with organizations including Purefoods Corporation, Pt. Sinta Maju Abadi Breeding Farm in Indonesia, and the Dutch poultry breeding company Euribrid.
He also served in leadership roles for Hybro across South Asia, Southeast Asia and China, and from 2004 to 2020 worked with Hendrix Genetics in Boxmeer, the Netherlands. There, he was instrumental in establishing distributorships in South Korea, the Philippines and Vietnam for Hypor, one of the world’s leading swine genetics companies. Since 2021 he was President of HiBig Poultry and Livestock Trading and Consultancy Services Inc., facilitating the importation of poultry and livestock genetic material into the Philippines.
Dr. Macalino was known for his profound industry knowledge, his extensive network across Asia, and his unwavering commitment to the advancement of the poultry and livestock sectors. His professionalism, integrity and warm personality left a lasting impression on colleagues, customers and partners alike.
