SmartSense™ is a fully connected single-stage incubator, designed to support increasingly adaptive incubation strategies. By combining proven incubation programs with advanced sensing and data-driven optimization, SmartSense™ helps hatcheries improve consistency, uniformity and chick quality.
Adaptive incubation
SmartSense™ enables true per-section control of temperature, humidity and airflow. Each section operates independently, allowing the incubator to respond to differences in breed, flock age and egg storage conditions.
Combined with the SmartSense™ trolley (optional), the system continuously gathers insight into eggshell temperature and weight loss. This information supports further optimization of incubation conditions and creates the foundation for adaptive incubation strategies.

ESM™ Energy Saving Module™
SmartSense™ uses Royal Pas Reform’s Energy Saving Module™ (ESM™) for fully programmable incubator fan RPMs and energy efficient, frequency-controlled motors. This, coupled with the flex fan, makes the SmartSense™ setter one of the most energy efficient on the market. Combined with the SmartSense™ trolley (optional), ESM™ supports adaptive airflow optimization strategies based on embryo-related measurements.
Adaptive Metabolic Feedback™
In a single-stage incubation environment, achieving the correct weight loss profile for hatching eggs is critical for proper air cell development. To support this process, SmartSense™ incubators simultaneously measure and control humidity and CO2 during incubation. Adaptive Metabolic Feedback (AMF™) supports accurate replication of breed- or flock-specific weight loss profiles, while reducing unnecessary ventilation and the loss of expensive, climatized air. When combined with the SmartSense™ trolley (optional), additional embryo-related insight becomes available to further optimize ventilation and humidity strategies.

SmartCenterPro™
SmartSense™ products are fully connected for remote support and updates, giving the hatchery greater control over the incubation process. Data is exchanged with SmartCenterPro™ to deliver detailed hatchery monitoring, analysis and reporting, allowing full track & trace functionality at every level of hatchery operation.
SmartTouch™
The SmartTouch™ user interface provides total control over every function and setting in each individual incubator. With a large, vertical, high-resolution 15.4-inch color touchscreen and multi-language intuitive design, it is simple to operate and easily accessible to operators of all skill levels. The SmartTouch™ interface also includes an extensive incubation library for customer-specific incubation programs, with ongoing support from Pas Reform Academy.
SmartCam™
SmartSense™ features a fully integrated webcam, which allows visual inspections without disrupting the incubator climate – not just in front of the machine, but also remotely from anywhere in the world.

Multi-functional corridor
The corridor in SmartSense™ C setters combines easy access with operational flexibility in a single integrated design. It allows cabinet inspection and embryo analysis without disturbing the internal climate, while also providing temporary space for trolley storage during cleaning, maintenance, or peak production periods. SmartSense™ has a fully sealed cabinet for optimum control of the incubation climate. This ensures uniform temperature, humidity and CO2 build up in the initial stages of incubation for a uniform start of the incubation process.
The doors are fitted with automatic magnetic closures, guaranteeing a secure, airtight and energy efficient seal. When shut, the doors create a strong, reliable barrier against air infiltration and leakage, enabling the egg pack to heat up quickly and uniformly during initial incubation and preventing the loss of valuable climatized air.
Bi-directional airflow
The design of the SmartSense™ bi-directional flex fan ensures the most effective method of exchanging energy, CO2/O2 and moisture in the incubator – to achieve truly homogeneous temperature distribution. Straight, flexible fan blades make it possible to rotate the flex fan in both directions (independently programmable).
Inlet air is mixed with conditioned air inside each section of the incubator and channeled along the side of the setter trolleys, before the air is then drawn back over the eggs. This process ensures complete air temperature homogeneity at each egg position and results in a highly uniform eggshell temperature. And because it runs at a lower speed and is used on a ‘slow’ speed motor, the newly designed flex fan brings a substantial reduction in electrical consumption, while also ensuring maximum operational reliability.
Reliable heating with high-capacity, future-ready cooling
The SmartSense™ setter is equipped as standard with an Electrical Heating System, ensuring reliable and efficient heat-up. For installations requiring additional flexibility, Integrated Heating & Cooling is available as an option for SmartSense™ Corridor configurations.
SmartSense™ features an advanced 3D cooling coil designed to optimize heat transfer and increase cooling capacity. The coil is constructed with layered sections positioned in sequence, extending the airflow path and maximizing air-to-coil contact time. This configuration significantly enhances heat transfer efficiency, enabling rapid and effective removal of embryonic heat.
Combined with flex fans positioned in front of the coil, the system ensures fast and uniform temperature distribution throughout the cabinet. As a result, stable incubation conditions are maintained with reduced cooling demand, even under high metabolic heat production.
Turning in line with airflow
The SmartSense™ turning device rotates the egg trays in line with the airflow. This ensures superior temperature distribution throughout the incubator, whether it holds 4 or 24 trolleys. In addition, each pair of setter trolleys has an independent (adjustable) turning mechanism, which is designed to protect the delicate hatching eggs from harmful physical shocks.
Together, these solutions ensure stable climate control and reliable performance under demanding incubation conditions.
