MJBJ Corporation chooses Royal Pas Reform’s SmartPro™ for new Philippines hatchery

MJBJ Corporation, one of the biggest and best-known companies in the Philippine poultry market, has chosen Royal Pas Reform’s integrated hatchery solution for its new, single-stage hatchery at Lucban, Quezon, 130km south of Manila. The new facility, which is MJBJ’s second hatchery, will have a production capacity of one million day-old chicks per week and is due to open in January 2026.

With 24 x SmartSetPro™ 6 setters and 24 x SmartHatchPro™ hatchers, MJBJ will make full use of Royal Pas Reform’s single-source capabilities at Lucban. The new hatchery will incorporate Adaptive Metabolic Feedback™ (AMF™), to fine-tune incubation environments to the needs of growing embryos, and Energy Saving Modules™ (ESM™) to reduce energy consumption. The hatchers will also be equipped with SmartWatch™, which controls humidity and CO2 levels in the hatcher to optimize the hatch window for every cycle.

Multiple levels of hatchery automation

The installation includes hatchery automation – for egg handing, egg candling & transfer and washing equipment. It also features climate control – with humidifiers, air handling units, a fumigation set for disinfection, an air distribution system and water chillers.

Royal Pas Reform’s HVAC system will provide bacterial and fungal filtration, pressure control in all hatchery production rooms, and optimized hygiene in the flow of eggs and chicks throughout the facility. Microban® hatcher baskets add a further layer of protection against contaminants.

Monitoring, control and detailed data analysis at every stage of hatchery operation will be provided by Royal Pas Reform’s SmartCenterPro™ hatchery management software. With batch-specific track-and-trace capabilities, the system also generates full incubation cycle reports for every batch set.

SmartView™serves as the main control panel, from which every function and parameter for each individual incubator throughout the hatchery may be accessed and controlled. The system incorporates an extensive database ¬ with log files on alarm and climate history, to allow for trouble shooting diagnostics.

Working together to achieve peak performance

Pas Reform Academy will provide a hatchery management training programme and on-going monitoring and advice, to tailor the hatchery’s incubation programmes for peak performance.

Lucban is an ideal location, since most of their breeder and broiler farms are also located in the south of the country, where it enjoys an ideal climate, good infrastructure and biosecurity, as there are no other farms nearby. MJBJ’s original hatchery is located in Isabela, the Philippine’s second largest province.

According to MJBJ President, Mr. Miguelito A. Bayaborda and CFO, Ms. Jenina A. Bayaborda, SmartPro™ hatchery technologies from Royal Pas Reform were chosen after a careful evaluation of the incubation systems currently available from a number of well-known suppliers.

With a focus on the highest numbers of best-quality chicks, Mr. Bayaborda says he was also looking for superior levels of support from his hatchery supplier. He comments: “Royal Pas Reform’s advanced SmartPro™ incubation system, combined with very good reports on the after-sales service provided by representative FSI were important factors in reaching a final decision.”

Bas Kanters, Royal Pas Reform’s Sales Director Asia, comments: “We have worked closely with MJBJ throughout the development process, from sales and commissioning, hatchery planning and project management, to technical back-up and training services. MJBJ is an ambitious company, and we are proud to be working with it to deliver on its expansion strategy.”

Ms. Rosemarie Astorga, FSI’s President, concludes: “We are very excited about this hatchery project and proud to be partnering with Royal Pas Reform. We are also pleased to be working closely with MJBJ to deliver a solution tailored to their specific needs. This is one of the largest hatcheries in the Philippines, and we believe it will set a new benchmark for quality and efficiency in the industry. It is a landmark project – both in scale and significance – and we are confident that it will serve as a showcase for hatchery development innovation and excellence.”
